Valve Cancels Portal 2 Event at Regal Theater, Promises a "Big Surprise" Instead

I'm really getting tired of Valve's bullstuff. At first when they did stuff like this I thought it was pretty cool. But then they go "hey look everyone, PORTAL 2!" but then go "lol canceled we're giving you guys a surprise".
Why cant they be a normal loving company and tell us what the stuff is going on?

what kind of company trolls/tricks their consumers?
What kind of company allows you to buy their stuff online?
