Maybe because of Aperture science being brought into the story of Episode 3 it would make more sense to show what aperture science was doing with the portal device while Gordan does his thing for half life.

And the fact that their both great games and valve likes money.

Read my last post. Chell's not going to cross paths with Gordon Freeman. All of HL2's characters would either be really, really old or would be dead.

You never know valve can get creative and figure a way if they wanted to.

Personaly I think it would be cool for Gordan to get the the Borealis and as hes on the ship theres Chell or another 'test subject' with the portal device face to face.
