Fixing the dead ringer?

Can anyone fix the dead ringer? I finally found out what it was supposed to do and I am disappointed that it doesn't work, can someone please fix this?

it is supposed to leave a dead body of you as if you Ctrl K'ed and i have heard 2 things from then on: you either get 5 seconds of invisibility or...i don't remember something about explosion

While holding the dead ringer, if you are killed you will turn invisible for 5 seconds as long as you hold the dead ringer. You are then free to kill your killer.

Are you taking it out before you die?
If you have it out when you die, the game will pretend you're dead, leaving a dead body and showing a kill/death message, and make you invisible for a short time.
