You do NOT need 24GB of RAM.

I'm going to assume you are not assembling your desktop. If that is the case, it is just as easy as purchasing a laptop.

My dad found a website with VERY cheap RAM prices.
So I'll be getting it off there.

So? That still doesn't mean you need it. No matter what you're running, I highly doubt you'll ever break 25% RAM usage.

Skate's computer is still worse than mine.  A lot of the pieces are probably stuff brands.

That doesn't make it a good idea?

Also only servers need that much RAM.

I'm building a desktop too. :p

I doubt someone like you needs even an i7 processor or a GTX 480, let alone 6 GB of RAM.

32-bits only support 8GB+ on Windows 7, I believe. If he has 64-bit, I think he can go below 32GB of RAM. Getting 18GB more RAM isn't going to do any difference. Just upgrade to 12, and set 2GB as a ramdisk. :P

Woah, what. You confused me a lot.

32-bit allows for UP TO 3.25 GB of RAM.
64-bit allows for UP TO 128 GB (I think?) of RAM.

Also, you don't need more than 4 GB of RAM.
