Author Topic: Return of the Mr. Wallet's Blockland Scripting Class  (Read 21298 times)

Notes updated with today's stuff

We went over operators and a little bit about IF. Implicit in learning about operators was all kinds of stuff about boolean logic and strings vs. numbers vs. booleans and torquescript's quirks thus regarding, so we didn't move far in the list, just like last year. Tomorrow we should probably be able to finish up Functions II.

These lessons have been fun, good job on teaching the Wallet. I wish I didn't have to go away, cuz now i can't finish it. Thanks for teaching us all, good luck with the rest of the week.

Wallet, I had to send a request for my gmail account to be allowed access.  This is because I didn't want to make a whole new gmail account just to access the doc.  Yeah.  Great lesson today, even though I wasn't there for the whole thing.  Thanks.

Well you do have a good foundation to try and figure it out on your own and asking noob questions here on the forums, so I hope you'll be able to put what you got to good use.

OK Gadget, added your gmail as a collaborator on the workspace.

edit: cleaned up some of heedical's notes just a little; it's not like, Wallet-guaranteed or anything, but I tried to clarify here and there.
Checked the OP and so far we're right on schedule, yey :cookieMonster:

Streaming.

Also, I feel cheated by Civ 4. I've been trying desperately to get the right "feel" of tech speed vs. unit movement, and I just discovered that not only does timescale affect research times, so does world size, against all rational intuition. -_- gosh darnit.

I have it too. Complete Edition.

I got everything as it was released, have loved it all.

Then colonization was a crappy remake instead of a reinvention like Civ4 and I was like nooo why firaxis the original blows

Anyway I had trouble explaining some stuff and we didn't cover much ground today.  :panda: We're in the middle of returned values.

missed class today i was swimming :/

Just check the notes. I've missed a class before, and just taught myself based solely on them. And if you have a question, just post in here, and I'll check back to help you out.

OFF TOPIC: i can hold my breath for 1:27 :)

Streaming/hosting. Class isn't for 35 minutes so I may be afk, but I'm just being "around" incase anyone wants to come early with questions.

Colonization isn't crappy. I don't like some features, but managing the city is cool. You basically assign people to certain jobs which is a huge advantage to a player.

Today we finished return values and we did loops, and even ran late just doing those. We didn't cover arrays, so we might have 3 or even 4 days left of class depending on how long the "miscellaneous" portion holds students' interest, and colonization is crappy.
