If you have high speed internet, would you get it?

Yes, it's better than upgrading my computer.

But you need a credit card to register your account.

If you don't know what Onlive is, it's a Live game streaming service that allows you to play PC games remotely, regardless of the specs of your computer. It's the same idea as Teamviewer. So you could play Crysis at max setting on a computer with integrated graphics. It's a very cool concept, I can't wait to see how this will change the industry. It works similar to Steam. You download the client and use it to purchase games, maintain friends lists, live spectating, and I guess a feature similar to Fraps; but also includes clip sharing among friends through the client. The only obvious difference is none of the games are stored on your hard drive, and the games are not run on your computer, they are run on the Onlive servers.

A service for console games that you play on your TV is planned to be released in the future.

Anyways, discuss Onlive.

The concept sounds dumb. From what I understand, wouldn't it mean that if 10,000 people had subscriptions, then they would need 10,000 high-end computers?

I'm sure they have that covered. From what I understand, they're setting up servers all around the country, so I guess they could do it.

And how does it sound dumb? Giving people who can't afford high end PCs a chance to play new games is dumb?

Sounds:

Expensive
Internet Bandwidth Consuming
Short Lived

Sounds:

Expensive Five dollars a month, not including the purchase of games.
Internet Bandwidth Consuming Maybe. It's really just streaming video. So it might not be that high.
Short Lived I hope not. :c

Wouldn't the lag kind of kill it?

I love the environment of the website.

Poll added cause I'm bored.

I hope it detects games that you already bought, I'm not paying for something again just to play it in high-quality.

If you can't do it can I do it then?

I already created the account with my main email, I just have to add a credit card to it. So, I doubt anyone would want to add a credit card to an account that somebody else would have access to.

I don't' think it will go too far.  If the internet is down, you have absolutely NO access to games at all.  No offline mode or anything.  Nor is there any mod support at all.  A lot of a game's lifetime relies on modding on PC.  In fact, that's one of the reasons I play PC games.  Also, there's the big issue of lag.

I have a debit card that's empty. Want to use that? It's only got like 3 cents.

lol jk you can't have it.

But convince OnLive to give me a 12 month subscription please :(

Supposedly there is next to no lag from what I heard.

We accept check cards (debit cards with a MasterCard or Visa or Discover logo). If a PIN is required to use your card, it is not eligible as a payment type.

Can't use debit even if you weren't kidding.
