How to clean a badly scratched/damaged GC Disk?

I found Timesplitters 2 in my room. I loaded it. In a few minutes of NeoTokyo it came up with..
"The disk cannot be read."
Hao2fix?
It has scratches on the bottom. It might be fubar. I don't know.

Buff the surface with toothpaste.

I usually just take some liquid soap and softly rub the disc with it.

i either rub a kiutip againts it or breath on it and then clean it with a soft shirt

That only cleans off dirt, not scratches.
