I see your point. The only reason I don't use green drags for money or xp is the damn revs...If only Jagex would make revenant-free zones in the wilderness :-(

I'm not saying that you should get 85 and 99 to get rune plate by any means; In fact if you do you should hang yourself.
However, it is better to get free stuff than to pay for it in most circumstances, and at 99 smithing you can do everything...kinda useful.
Overall, in conclusion, to end this, and conclude, after all is said and done, you are right...
