In my day seers village was the members world center of trade. To find the good stuff you had to check bank sales and haggle. If you're lucky you'll find someone selling things dirt cheap because they wanted to sell quick. Back then people would run up to you and ask you to show your special attack. Back then we had tutorial island and not a stuffty run through the land of telling you that you're a super adventurer who can do everything. Back then You couldn't buy thousands of runes at a time because you were limited to what nolife mc fatass decided fit to make during his dorito and Mtn dew fueled runs runs.
