Runescape was great, is great, and will always be great dispite what players believe. Yes there is bots and there will always be bots. Boo to-the-loving hoo; Deal with it. If they want to waste $7 a month to put themselves and a virtual highscore board where nobody gives a stuff -then so be it. as long as YOU actually play the game correctly and enjoy it on your OWN then it doesn't matter. The MMO will most likely eventually die out just like many others and there isn't much you can do about it unless you are the CEO of Jagex. The game changes just like everything else.

You can't just denounce bots like that. Bots ruin every aspect of the game in some way, whether it be getting in the way during the time you spent training skills, or devaluing the items you obtain in the game. It's near impossible to level some skills the faster ways these days simply because every spot which provided quick experience or a decent source of money is swarming with automated 'players'. You just have to look around on the RuneScape forums in rants, general discussion and recent updates to see how many people are annoyed at this ever increasing problem. "Deal with it." - Impossible.
Moriarty:
whats sad:
i invested 1m into buying red d'hide coifs
for 10k each
..people actually sell them for 10k
they go for 300k after
can anyone say free 290k?
and if this goes on
and i know it will
so if this goes on
i will have made
a grandtotal
of 100 x 290k = 29m
so, say 29x'ing my investment?
and sometimes even MORE than 29x?

Bots actually do one thing good for the game, they make the price of raw resources like logs go down dramatically. When there were no bots the price of yew logs shot up, causing the fletchers to get forgeted. Same with most other resources, like flax. This caused the price of bows to rise. This happened to a lesser extent with swords, but the sword market is mostly controlled by non-botters, so it wasn't as much of an issue. The problems begin to show themselves when there are just too many bots, because item prices drop too drastically due to over saturation in the market. There has to be a balance in the amount of bots that are collecting raw resources.

Just because it isn't required doesn't mean they should remove it.

This is good provided you don't need to gather raw materials for skills. Unfortunately about half the skills in the game are gathering raw materials.
Still, I admit that bots do help out a lot for Herblore, Fletching, Smithing and so on. Training Smithing by superheating gold after BXPW was the cheapest it's been in ages.
hgpucom:
There are bots everywhere. I've dealt with them just like plenty of other people have. In fact, I love bots. They have helped me make 65m+ gold in 90 days. I also just made an extra 7m over double exp weekend because of them. They don't ruin everything because even if there weren't bots, there would still be people in your skill "spots" anyways. And I suggested ignoring them because that's exactly what Jagex will eventually do anyways since they pay majority of Runescape's memberships. They realized after the first bot nuke they lost so much profit that they came out with SoF and SGS just to try and equalize their income.
