God, I hate membership, and the 5$ that you have to pay A MONTH.

Because Runescape is the only MMORPG that charges monthly!
$5 a month is cheap compared to other MMO's, $10, $15, etc.

As for the member cost thing:
It's cheap. Cheaper than a lot of stuff anyway.
Besides, membership is pointless at low levels. Just spend the 2000 odd hours maxing all free skills THEN get member if you want.
