Is Wurm Online worth it?

someone needs to come up with a simple build-your-world-from-the-ground-up MMO with either conventional point-and-click-and-overpower fighting or simplistic rock paper scissors action fighting. you know, punch beats grab, grab beats block, block beats punch kind of thing

but wurm is free until you reach level 20, at which point you have to pay to advance further

It's boring as hell unless you're in a group, and even then it's slow as stuff. I played for a bit with Facepunch, in the town of Minges Tirith. Deforested the entire area around it, salted the earth around an starfish neighbor, and then everyone starved because there was no food production.

You pay to level up past level 20.
