The cars are stalling because you don't know how to drive a manual. Use the clutch.

the only thing I could think to make it better would be better turning speed and handling
also the cars don't really seem like they are going as fast as the dashboard says

Most of the vehicles are massive trucks, so they won't exactly turn well. On smaller cars, using a racing wheel makes the cars seem to handle better, as you don't spin out when trying to turn at high speeds.

This game doesn't seem old, to me, it seems pretty cool.

it's not optimized at all
on lowest settings I still get some lag
which is weird for my 9400gt should run everything on high
