Yeah, my bad. But delete all traces of Alien Swarm in /username/ as it could be a fault in the settings

Try logging in with your STEAM ACCOUNT? Wouldn't that be a smarter thing to do? Plus Verify the Integrity of Game Files and it'll find anything missing/wrong.
