Saber15:

It looks like a stuffty clone of Planetside with better graphics. It'll probably be as boring as EVE, too.

And it's on the consoles, lolol.

Oh yes, you can tell from a few screenshots.

Bump.
This deserves more recognition. :(

It's clear that people who say this obviously haven't played EVE to it's fullest extent. Playing a 14 day trial and doing some stuff missions in a rookie ship is not the full game. First step is to buy the game. Second step is to not suck. Then you can get into a decent corp. Go to war, experience a massive hundred player fleet battle, engage in PvP, build an empire, colonize planets, become a market expert, gank some nubs, pirate some lonely mining barges, explore the thousand or so solar systems, go NPC hunting, build up your wealth and buy ships and equipment the average player could only dream of.
Incarna is coming out soon enough which will allow you to walk in stations, gamble, do trade, setup your own business, eventually there may be an entire FPS-style aspect to EVE. After DUST when CCP gets their procedural engines running and they generate the detailed terrains on each planet, atmospheric flight and whatnot may be possible, CCP has rumored that if all goes well with DUST and EVE merging they may add even more to each game that ties them together even further.

There isn't anything particularly wrong with EVE, but it's boring compared to other space simulators like X3, Evochron, and Freelancer. You can't actually pilot your ship, it needs grinding to get money (or a friend), it's pay to play, and combat is about as exciting as chess; and involves a third of your screen being dominated by windows.

I don't see how Dust will be any better than/compare with Planetside. The features like the "16-256 players" is surpassed by Planetside's 399 per continent (in 2003), the randomly generated worlds will likely end up very plain, and Dust will be limited by how much depth/control you can put in a console game.
