When you break a major rule you get banned, even if the rule was "No talking about bananas." I would consider it a fair ban if someone got banned for talking about bananas, if the rule was as well known as the "No goodbye threads" rule. I mean everyone knows about the "no goodbye thread" rule and you're asking for a ban if you break it.

Niven's ban is just as much of a joke as that would be. Niven's title meant "farewell to abundant time online"...

He gets 4 hours from August 2-8th... and then he gets none for 6-12 months, but then he'll be back. His even was not a farewell as much as it was a going away party... and when he does come back we'll be having a welcome home party. If you people would have ACTUALLY READ what he posted you would know this... I guess you are just blinded by your ignorance. Enjoy that bliss, only lasts so long. What choice did Niven make other than wanting to host a going away party? Please.
