You do realize processing speed isn't the only thing that determines your fps on a game.

If it was my macbook would suck less for gaming.

I've been thinking about buying L4D on steam since I saw that thread about "I hate mountains"

Here's what my processor is on my laptop.

AMD Turion(tm) II Ultra Dual-Core Mobile M600 2.40GHz

With 4GBs of RAM.

Can I run it?

Kinda hard to tell fully without your graphic card listed either. But you should be fine in the CPU and RAM department.

Also I run it pretty well with a 2.8 GHz single core.

I have a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 Series. It's a mobile card, I can run Gmod, TF2, Alien Swarm, HL2 at really good performance.
