But the gun IS turned supposed to be "sideways" as you put it. And not all models are boxes within boxes.

Nono, you got it wrong, I used the vertex select and box select and stretched/cut the cubes.. Coupon, stop complaining about my add-ons if you cant even make a simple gun.
