If you want to play like that, go grab Total Annihilation Spring. (see: max unit count can range into the thousands per player)
Starcraft has it's own strategy, its own annoying annoying strategy. Most of time it's about attacking the enemy in a way that they can't fight back. So, if you want actual battles play something else.

There are epic battles, as an example I just added Wizard and the first game I launched a huge army assault on him (75 vs like 100 or so) I was outnumbered but I still won because of the upgrades I had and my medivacs healing my marines. Then the second game was 3 v 3 with paul and he RUSHED ME but I still fought him off with my workers and kept building (then went to destroy his base) and then wizard came back and destroyed my first base so I rebuilt at pauls and got some workers out before wizard crushed me again and won.
Basically you will lose to rushes if you are a noob and dont how to play well but just the last two games alone I played werent won by rushing, like I said you need to play the game more and l2fend off rushes and then you will enjoy it more.
There IS strategy involved and there is an entertainment factor.
Just because it has a high learning curve and you arent doing super good so far does not make it a crappy game
