If nothing happens and you keep falling, you will eventually run out of the original bricks/brick passage/walls you built. Thus making you be able to fly off into nowhere.

I made one of these ages ago, it works best if people have knives, since eventually you start moving as fast as the bullets.

or make a zone that teleports you to the top?
