Gmod crashes on startup.

Ok, I got Gmod today. I've wanted it for a long time, so as soon as it finished installing, I jumped right into it. As it bought up the loading screen, it cut back to my desktop, and said hl2.exe has stopped working. I tried again, same error. I don't know what to do. Can somebody help?
