Actually that goes for the grass too. You don't need to put decals on every side. Make the block brown and put a grass decal on top.

The sides have hanging grass also.

Yeah, but I'd like it. How the hell did truce do it? His grass is perfectly textured.

This is what I had done in the picture I posted earlier in the thread; I connected to a Minecraft Creative server and spawned in the map, and that's why the terrain looks so authentic. The protocol isn't too hard to get down, and you don't actually need to do any compressing of the map files from a client perspective.

Wedge:
You can color the top of the brick with a green texture like the road bricks, assign your grass/dirt decal to the side, and then make the bottom of the brick brown.
