I joined Beepskies and have no idea what am I doing. I can barely figure out how to walk.

I really want to play this but I can't seem to log in to the game world. The servers seem to be up but no players seem to be on, I suppose that's a good indication. However, I made an empire and a character to go along with it and I see no character after my log in screen now (even though my empire was created).
