9/11 isn't life changing.
It killed a lot of people, yes.
It sparked controversy with tons of people, yes.
Did it personally affect your life, considering you didn't find out about 9/11 until 7 years after? No.

You'll probably prance around, saying how great America is and how everyone in the Middle East should burn for a few weeks, then you'll go back to being yourself.

To most that are learning about it or will soon, yes, this would be true. 9/11 itself, though, was a life changing event when it happened and several years after. But it still has quite an impact....No pun intended. :s
