Because shut up. It's completely different to 1.
gw1 = fully instanced
gw2 = full mmorpg

But they were still making money off the first one. Why would you waste money on an entirely different game?
Sure, they're not the same game, but in the same nature; they're both Guild wars. One online game of the same thing would be enough.
