Adding more story in isn't going to make the game bad, so what's your problem?

What's your problem? You immediately start moaning they should just make another expansion instead of a greatly improved 2nd game?
You can't change too much in expansions, it needs to work for people without the expansion so older stuff can't be edited at all.

I'm not moaning, I don't see a point to making an entirely different game.

The point of expansions is to expand the gameplay, boo hoo if it doesn't work for people with older versions.
