In such case why not just use actual lego minifigs. It's the same thing, one's just square and has invisible limbs.

Diecast Blockhead model, He'll be standing on a green circle with studs on it. And to connect limbs, There are clear connectors.

Would you guys want it to be made out of a solid like wood, or have like cotton/fuzz stuff on the inside? I've drawn some designs for the pirate avatar.
