I was borrwoing it from a firend to try it out. I haven't had a chance to play any of them. Plus, he said it didn't require steam, only HL2 did.

It works fine for me, but I got my disk from my dad, maybe your/your friend's disk is broken.

I am not sure. I just read the Readme file, and It says I need the most currect version of DirectX, which I don't have yet. Can you link me to the DirectX site please. (I want to be sure of safe link.)

It's a Microsoft software, so if its from Microsoft.com its safe.

What graphics do you have?
