I think belnder was easier to learn myself. I could actually do stuff on blender. I made my first model without knowing anything or seeing a tutorial.

I choose that because it is free and it auto smooths,also texturing is easy and the animations.

Also if you develop more interest in modeling and want to move on to more complex stuff, you won't have to learn another program if you start with Blender.
