What's up with all of the Family RP's?

No offense to those who set them up, but its starting to bug me why there are so many of them.
Anyone got a (crazy) idea of why there are so many?

You must remember, this was meant to be a game for children. Children, for reasons I cannot yet comprehend, like to make families, which gives them the illusion of being loved and not being a toddler who plays lego-style games on the internet.
