if you are 14yo in the US you are allowed to have a job. just limited to like 15-20 hours a week or something.
even at minimum wage you can pull in bi-weekly paychecks of 200 bucks.

2 months of saving every penny you earn can get you a decent comp.

but waiting 3 years for that menial money is handicapped. allowance isnt money to buy nice things, its spending money to hang out with friends.
