How about after you jump or fall, hold space to glide! The fall would be around 2.5 times slower than airie's though, and you would probably want to make the initial jump higher than airie's if it already isn't...

I would implement that if I could do it easily and in a non-hacky way. :/

Make it so when the crouch button is held it plays a dive animation and your fall rate is increased.
