1.Click the Profile at the top.
2.On the sidebar to your left click Look and Layout Preferences.
3.Then find the option "Don't show users' avatars" and check the box next to it.
4.Click change profile at the bottom.
5.The avatars are gone.

A simple solution for a common issue.

Safari Tutorial
In the Safari Prefs, in "Appearances," just uncheck the box that says "Display images when the page opens.
