GMOD requires much more processing power than HL2 or CS:S due to all the physics stuff. It's also running on a newer version of the Source Engine, so would probably need more power anyways. It won't run on anything higher than Low, and you'll probably be chugging along at <10 FPS on multiplayer build servers.

Which source game do you have that works with it?

EDIT: I plan to get Half Life 2. I might just have the old games like CS:S and DOD:S. No L4D or anything.

Yes it is worth buying. I think it would be ok for you to run.
