hmm, is the new system going to have a way for the addon maker to submit and update their addons?

Hope so,

:D

And it'll be better than RTB, it'll use your BL name instead of a permanent RTB name!

v18 seems amazing :D

Ephialtes, what's going to happen with RTB? It'll still have other features, just no mod downloading?

No mod DLing.

:D

Im happy.

i have a ton of old addons, back to v9, if you want me to upload them
although it does have some failed addons, as it's from my crashed computer before they were crap'oned

edit: i have 796 from the computer that crashed, should i filter out default ones and abusive ones, and things like city rp?
Sedan?

Badspot should first build up all the lists, then look for spare add-ons.

Also, I guess this has killed the idea of a mod manager in most BL mods.

But hey, default.

Also, im expecting v18 to come out early December

I dunno, check the RTB4 post.

Same as always, just no mod manager

IRC is being replaced with a better chat system. It will allow friends, ignores, better private messaging, and hopefully less spam.

Here it is word for word.
RTB 4
RTB4 is more what you guys are waiting for. Part of the RTB Strategy is to release one large feature per version. V2 was well, RTB itself. V3 the new Mod Manager. Now I am proud to present V4, RTB Connect. Here's a brief synopsis of the features intended for this extension.

  • Friends List - This will be very similar to how AIM or MSN works. You'll have a list with user-defined groups into which you can add your friends by Blockland ID. They will then receive an invitation to be friends (depending on their privacy settings) and then both of you will appear on eachother's friends lists along with other details such as online status, current server etc.

  • Messaging - To compliment the Friends List, you will also be able to start conversations with friends on your friends list. The messaging may be quite rudimentary at first, and just contain basic messaging capabilities - nothing flashy like "winks" and "nudges" and all of that crap.

  • File Sharing - Depending on quite a few factors, you may also be able to send Blockland files to eachother over the messenger, such as save files or screenshots.

  • Chat Rooms - This is not yet confirmed as I haven't fully researched the capabilities of the server software we'll be using but it is something I will be pursuing regardless.

Accounts will work on a per-id basis. Each ID gets one RTB Connect account and this account may be accessed from outside the game using any Jabber/XMPP compatible chat client.

Previews
Here's a mock-up of the buddy list you'll be using for RTB Connect.

Its on the first post of the Modification discussion thread

Oh, i heard there was no IRC is that true?
There is no IRC.
There's a better chat system that includes group chats and friend lists. Your name will always be your ingame name.

I dunno,

But Blockbot will die.

Ephialtes told me that BlockBot will be in the public group chat rooms.
