--- Quote from: Eksi on October 31, 2010, 11:05:40 PM ---My server doesn't seem to want to authenticate on its own anymore. Nobody sees it on the server list until I change a setting like the welcome message through RTB. When I start the server, it shows

Authentication: Connected...
No user/host entry in master server, re-sending authentication request
Authentication: Sending Initial Request...
Dedicated server is now running.

and stops. At this point, nobody can connect or even see the server but me, and only through Query LAN. But once I connect and change a setting, it goes again to "No user/host..." and follows through to "Authentication: SUCCESS", and players can start connecting.

As I have a fairly reliable solution already, I didn't want to make a thread all about this, but I thought it should be known.

I'm still having this problem, except that now it, apparently, temporarily loses connection in the middle of hosting. Nobody in the server notices, but I look at the console and it's going through authentication again, and I assume for a length of time before that it has been unlisted again.

This.

I've been observing server activity, and it seems that this is also occurring to a minority of servers, including mine. I recommend this being looked at. I also recommend looking at my previous post for more detail.

It sits there until I quit it, which is about 5 minutes.

--- Quote from: Badspot on November 03, 2010, 10:42:32 PM ---There is a known issue where the game will freeze for a few seconds when someone connects or disconnects.  Occasionally, it will freeze long enough for someone to get bored and disconnect, which makes it freeze more and you end up with this chain reaction where it freezes for like a minute and everyone leaves.

It is a difficult problem to debug because it does not happen consistently and the freeze is not from CPU usage.  CPU usage actually drops to zero while it's happening.

This combined on Red_Guy's Mining Server in a horrific way. Since it parses players for stats and such, it mounted join/leave lag. I remember one time, around 7 people left in a row. It caused chain lag for so long, people started timing out. When it was finally over, only me and this other guy were left. I was amazed my low end connection and computer handled it.

Though my point is that noobchains can be scary... Meh.
