IMO, OpenITG is the best build since you could play literally any simfile you wanted on it; I haven't found a simfile I haven't been able to play to play due to problems in the steps (Neg BPMS, Rolls) rather than problems in the file itself, like syntax errors in the .sm file.
It's a really good build, you should try it.
Also, this should satisfy your sim-hunger.
I seriously wish more people would get into rhythm/music games, they're really fun.
