You're paying for a part of it. You pay a small part of the bill rather then the entire bill. Some people just want a reliable BL server and nothing else. If you want to buy your own server, I'm not stopping you. If you don't like this, don't participate.
This whole thing was inspired by the server ATF gave to me. Considering how easy it is to have a powerful server, why can't other people have one? I've seen too many slow servers that can't have a high player base(Heedicalking, I hope you're listening), yet they are good but can't support many players.

Any non-German host is really expensive. The server I'm planning to buy has 3x the HDD space, 2x the amount of RAM, 2x the CPU power, but 5x cheaper.
Also, remember that you're paying for a part of it, so in reality you're comparing apples to oranges.

Hmm, 56 people indicated they would pay $5+ yet hardly any actually put the money where their mouth is. Perhaps people simply don't understand how a poll works?

Maybe the poll should be changed to "how much could you pay..." since people can obviously pull a number out of their behind if they have no intention of actually spending the money.
