CoD United Offensive was, and still is, far better than any CoD game after it, I used to play it for 6-12 hours all day every day when I was a youngster, the never games can't hold my attention for more than two hours.
The problem with the newer games is that their story is based off hypothetical events in the theatre of war, which is a problem because that gives the designers mind room to wander which causes the story to be strange, twisted and overall not as interesting as the designer thought it would be.
However with the WW2 games the story is all there in paper, the designer just has to put some pretty models over that and it's like adding a new coat of paint to the Mona Lisa every four months to keep it pretty.

That is why I don't like the "Modern Warfare" phase of gaming

The question here isn't whether or not the game is worth playing, it's "why is the series so popular"? And while you gave an answer, you didn't actually support it with evidence. I don't think anybody could possibly take you seriously. Add to that you're being defensive when there's no reason to be. This isn't a personal attack on you.

Nobody worships it. It's a fun game that lots of people play, and it's new. Doesn't TF2 get boring for you guys at all? Or any Valve game I guess.

Seriously if you hate it you most likely suck at it. People need to stop complaining about killstreaks and overpowered weapons.

I have no problem with them whatsoever. Why? I can actually play the game, damnit.

Killstreaks, noobs, and overpowered weapons are NOT excuses. I have never complained about them once because

1: Killstreaks- The enemy team nevers gets them. Why? Because I can PREVENT that from happening by not letting them kill me and playing with people who are GOOD.

2: noobs- Play with FRIENDS. Yes, those people.

3: overpowered weapons- Find a weapon you like. If there are none, you suck. If people kill you with a certain weapon in specific, use it yourself. No one is preventing you from doing that.

I mean really, Obviously 20+ million people like it. Who cares if its hypothetical? Its fun. Is TF2 real? No. But it's insanely fun. I'm not saying the Call of Duty series is the BEST video game series in the world, because it's not. All I'm saying is that if you have a problem with it, it's most likely that you suck and come up with idiotic excuses like "Oh, too many campers and killstreaks!" Rush the damn campers or lob a grenade, and don't let the enemies KILL you.
