It worked for me. This may be dumb to ask, but are you logged in on the same account on which you bought it? This is, of course, assuming that you bought it on the website, and not through the client. It's the only thing I can think of.

well it wouldn't be possible to install it with the client if i wasn't on the right account.

Well I have some "Tinker" game that a downloaded forever ago on a different account than AoE:III, but both appear in the list of installed games. I'm guessing it's like how Xbox 360 works. You can buy something on one account, but play it on all other accounts on that console. Like I said, this could be waaaay off, but it's all I can think of.
