I suggest the Civilization games, and the Age of ____ games (AoM was fantastic). I have also heard decent things about RUSE.

AoM is probably my favorite RTS ever.

Has no one else played Rome:Total War, or any other Total War games then? If not then I suggest looking up PrinceOfMacedon on youtube for some of his videos.
