Author Topic: A Brief Guide: How to make .gifs from video.  (Read 500 times)

(Brief guide, get it? huehuehue)

All joking aside this topic is about turning your favorite sections from video into a .gif that you can use as your avatar on the forums here without making a thread bawwing about it.

I thought I would contribute this to let those who don't know know.

Disclaimer for culbros: This is just how I do it, if you have a better way feel free to post it and I'll update the OP but don't be an obnoxious starfish.

You will need:

-A linear video editor (vegas, wmm, whatever you like)
-A youtube downloader (if your video is on youtube)
-A video converter (I use Any Video Converter)
-Virtual Dub
-This site.

Okay let's begin.

Step 1. Obtain your video.

Step 2. Open the new video in your video editor, trim it down to what clip you want. Bear in mind that if the clip is really long this will forget up, I'm working on a method to get the file size/number of frames down but the 2 second clip I rendered earlier was 23 MB, it wouldn't work on the resize site.

Step 3. Save the new video in .mpg or .avi and fire up virtual dub

Step 4. load the video into Vdub and go to File>Export>Animated GIF

Step 5. Render the forget out of that bitch

Step 6. your shiny new gif will be way too big for these here forums, go to that site I mentioned earlier, set the size to 75,75 and hit go.

Step 7. Gratz bro, you have a .gif you can use on the forums.

Yey.

I'm trying to turn this gif into a 75x75. It's a 98x98, it's not letting me turn into my avatar. :C
