On real oil rigs, there about 1 meter squared of empty space MAXIMUM, usually in hallways.

I agree with that too, I guess. I'll try to imrpove it.

Needs more stuff. Add desks, offices, a second floor to the box-house thingy and such.

That's a completely random guess, and a hallway would take up about 3 sq. metres.
