They should have destroyed the spawns in the first place, that way everyone could just salvage in peace without the server turning into something like a Deathrun or TDM

That's because they found some weapon spawns and moved them into their bases. All you have to do is organize a squad, raid their base, and now your squad has weapons and can be powerful. This is what constantly occured yesterday, and was an interesting mechanic as no one wanted to share weapons and live peacefully.
