If I want a Half-Life for Garrys Mod, which is the one to get?

You should probably buy the Orange Box first, because of the variety of the games. However, you should consider buying Counter-Strike: Source later on because a lot of add-ons and gamemodes use its weapons and content.

You will see tons of errors in any server if you do not have CS:S. But, I would say just get TOB for the extra content from Portal. I've seen people use that a good amount of the time.
