Trading Cards - That old Add-On from 2007... I found it.

Red (Just an example, but I kinda like the idea.): Epic/Legendary/Something
These cards are extremely rare. Only few (Perhaps a dozen?) exist of selected players. If you by chance happen to own a card of this type, you are one lucky bastard.

Badspot, kompressor, Ephialtes, Wedge, Sumz, Spation, Mocheeze, Bones4, Facechild, Rotondo, Kaje. All the people you are extremely unlikely to see ingame. Get the cards by meeting them ingame - collect them all to prove you are a cheating friend! (you'll never ever get Mocheeze. Or likely Bones, Facechild, Rotondo, Kaje, Spation, Sumz, Wedge or kompressor)

Only issue I have with that lot of ratings is why should common be blue? The common Blockland icon is black. Shouldn't the common Blockland player be the same color as the icon we see every time we play?

My suggestion:
Legends
Epic
Builder
Blockhead

See the cards as more to do with Blockland itself than actual trading cards
maybe make the actual cards themselves look like bricks (and show the list as an interlaced wall with the rarity being the color of the brick) with a picture of the player's avatar, their name, and when you got the card.

Like so:
[  ][  ][  ]
  [  ][  ]
[  ][  ][  ]

That is, make it something more relative to what it's based on. Make sense?

I'm spewing ideas aaaa

the common type of card getting handed out many times to a player possibly, and having the rarer one cap at one give out per player, and the rarest card type only being able to be gotten from people actually handing them out
(e.g. blue and silver can be found randomly an unlimted amount of times, gold can only be found once randomly, and red can only be gotten from special events)

 is a bad idea.

How do you want it then? I think that system sounds pretty neat. Special events could stuff like New Years and so on.

Never heard of.

Gah. stuff confusing me. That's what I meant. Black rims on the common cards. The inside color scheme could be blueish.

I prefer common, uncommon, rare and whatever.

Clever idea but I prefer lovey rims.
DrenDran:
How about this:
(basically going of demains ideas of how to mod my ideas)

Black - Common - You start off with a few of these cards, picked at random, you can also find these over and over again.
Silver - Uncommon - These can be found over and over again also, but you don't start with any.
Gold - Rare - These can only be found once per player, but you can get more by trading.
Red - Legendary - Can only be found if the card is personally given to you by someone personally authorized by me to give out said cards.

Note that each individual card (except legendary) still can also have a rarity value, that determines your chance of randomly finding said card. So some high end black cards may be rarer than some low end silver cards, for example.

Good idea.

I'm cool with that. Except for the golden card. How about that only a certain amount of golden cards can be found per 24 hours?

I disagree. In my opinion there should be a clear difference between the rarities of cards. Perhaps even no varieties in the rarieties of similar cards at all, meaning that all silver cards for example equally just as rare.

Not a bad idea, though that means that the card could become seemingly more common if there are less players on.

I can understand the desire to have cards rarities simple and easy to see, and there probably won't be a huge difference, but still these are trading cards, and a variety of rarities, and this values, of cards might make trading more encompassing and fun.
