Need Sims 3 help

Alright heres the deal, I've been playing the sims recently and it has suddenly started doing this thing where everything freezes, except for that green crystal that floats about the Sim's head, it still rotates and bobs up and down. Everything else is like my computer is frozen. I've turned my computer off for an hour, cleaned the disk, restarted my computer, restarted the program, and it still continues to freeze. What do I do?

I'm pretty sure my computer can run it because it's been running it perfectly for the past 2 days.

i have a bad computer

it ran fine for a few days

then it crashed alot.



also, that green crystal is a plumbob
