If I'm in some huge DM and somebody spawns right in front of me, what am I supposed to do?
Run away and count to ten to make sure I'm playing fair?

in my book "fair" is a relative term
i mean, think about it
if you make one team stronger out of pity the other team will say "hey, that's not fair, you're making them stronger because they're getting their asses kicked"
if you make one team weaker out of pity then that team will have a similar issue: "hey, that's not fair, we had the same equipment and everything"
you can't forget with team balance without compromising "fairness", so the only thing you can do is scramble teams and hope for the best

Or how about instead of fighting with the T key and caps lock you hit Q, pull out a gun, and shoot back. 3/4 of the people getting "spawnkilled" complain about it instead of spawning, and shooting back.
