what a negative way to look at things

it won't taint the page, if anything it'll make it better by a bit.

You could always get a really cheap one on amazon. I have an off-brand tablet, and it was around 10-15 bucks. It's small and the pens are damn near impossible to replace but it works fairly well. It does feel odd but at least I can draw with it.

It's better to have a cheap tablet that's usable than to not have one at all. I'm poor as dirt but I wanted a tablet so I got that one just so I could at least own one before saving up to get a used Wacom tablet.

One of the hardest parts of using a normal tablet is getting used to looking at just the screen while controlling the pen. It does take time but it's no different than using a normal mouse once you get the hang of it.

I use my pen tablet for everything. It's actually easier for me to write than to type so I use my pen tablet for that too, most of the time.

Iirc you still you sai correct Lizzy? What brushes do you use? I have the worst trouble with hair and skin with the starter brushes.
