You're 110% furry, your opinion is sort of moot on whether or not weird little hamster things doing the do is weird.
They're being labled/named as characters.
The hair and facial details are pretty much all exactly the same, with the only real differences being for stylized eyes.

See the problem here with everyone thinking PowerDag's research is chubby bunny loving is that it is NOT his only style. He has other styles in his art that aren't chibi-esque that would make sense to be research.

I don't see the necessity of having iron proof that people can have different styles. Is that an alien concept? Why does such a novel thing require proof? Is it not common for people to have multiple styles?
